Review :
Since the US version of the game is hard to find and expensive, I decided to take a gamble on the UK import. It works perfectly fine and I was able to get it running on steam in no time without any problems. Being available through steam is a huge plus for me, however, it may be a con for you. Rest assured that the key is redeemable on a US steam account though.


The story begin when  Rush's Sister was Kidnap by a Monster. The game begin from Yamarn Field to Sacred Land. Now, I'm sure you know a great deal about the game itself. So rather than telling you how the mechanics and story is, I'll just tell you my thoughts on them.

First off, I am a fan of many JRPGs like Final Fantasy. Naturally, a game by Square Enix for the computer using the Unreal Engine piqued my interest. The game play is solid and combat works well. My only problem with the game is the trite and overused story line. It quite predictable. "I need to save ____. Oh wow, I have special powers and need to defeat this bad guy." The world is somewhat open, but is still for the most part linear. You can diverge on some side quests to pass the time, but most aren't super fun. You will have to sometimes grind for level ups to defeat bosses in the main story and side quests, however. This may be a turn off to some, but just be aware of that. There also is a fair amount of character progression and customization.

The graphics and sound are OK. Just that. The unreal engine 3 is really showing it's age in 2010. It still looks good, but nothing breathtaking and nothing awful. Some of the character dialogue is awkward and doesn't seem "normal". That can me mainly be attributed to the game being JRPG, but nonetheless, the problem exists. Also, the movement of certain characters in certain cut scenes also seems a bit strange and not socially realistic. This awkwardness makes the game appear more "fake" and prevents you from getting sucked in during certain key moments.

Also, the controls on the pc work, but are a bit awkward at times. I tried remapping a few buttons, but ultimately switched to my PC 360 controller. The game was much easier to play with a controller in my opinion.
